We are happy to announce that the Howard County Historical Society (HCHS) has received a grant from the Community Association of Howard County for 2025.
This operational grant will help us to continue our mission of collecting, preserving, and providing access to artifacts, documents, and images while sharing even more stories from Howard County’s rich and diverse past. We will use the funds from MHC to support FREE programming, exhibits, and cultural events for the public.
Thank you to the Community Association of Howard County for the opportunity to improve our organization, expand our collection’s coverage, and increase inclusive access and outreach.
We also received a grant from the Patapsco Heritage Greenway. This Heritage Area Grant will support the development of a new rotating exhibit called Gifts of the Patapsco Valley. This exhibit will detail the history of human interaction in the Patapsco River Valley. Throughout the time of human habitation, the valley has provided food, timber, minerals, power for mills, and recreation.
This exhibit will be available to partner institutions as a rotating exhibit, utilizing portable pull-up banners that can be easily transported and installed. Partners may be libraries, schools, other historical societies and museums, government buildings, nature centers, and the Howard County Welcome Center. The Howard County Historical Society will lead the research efforts, design the exhibit, write scripts for the panels, and entertain bids for production.
